Governance

Zen Community of Oregon is governed by a volunteer board of directors. Four of the directors are elected by the membership at the ZCO Annual Meeting every spring. Chozen Roshi is a permanent director and she selects two other Directors. Directors serve three-year terms and can serve two consecutive terms. The President, Treasurer, and Secretary are elected by the Board for a term of one year. Board meetings are open.

Committees are set up to do focused work on areas like Communications, Programs and Events, and Public Service.

Great Vow Zen Monastery is led by the co-abbots Chozen Bays, Roshi and Zen Teacher Hogen Bays.

Heart of Wisdom Zem Temple is led by Temple Manager Nancy Kodo Conover with the assistance of a Temple Council.
