A four week series on Compassionate Communication (NVC) as founded by Marshall Rosenberg

Communicating what’s important to you in a way others can hear you isn’t always easy.  More often than you would like the other person reacts with defensiveness, criticism, or advice. Before you know it you are caught in an escalating argument. Sometimes its hard to know what you are really arguing about.

NVC helps you name the real issues and address them effectively.  The real issues are universal:  love, respect, understanding, being heard, caring, collaboration, consideration, trust, intimacy, - to name a few.  Unfortunately these are often communicated indirectly and tainted with blame or accusation.  For example, “You never listen to me!”  could be more directly communicated like this, “Hearing you give me advice, I feel frustrated because I want to be heard.  Would you be willing to tell me what you are hearing me say instead of giving me advice?”

In this series you will get a basic introduction to Compassionate Communication also called Nonviolent Communication (NVC).  The class flow will be to present a skill and concept, practice in a structured experiential exercise in pairs or small groups, and then come back as a whole group for integration and questions.

To pay $60 for all four classes and receive the discount, pay $20 with your registration online, and pay the $40 balance at the first class.
