Residential Zen Training

The Zen Buddhist monastic container is a unique spiritual discipline cultivated and refined for over a millenium. It is designed to optimize the conditions for clarifying and widening the heart-mind and for seeing into the essential questions of life and death.

While in training all residents follow the daily schedule of zazen, chanting service, work practice, and participate in all other monastery activities. Living together with those that share our deep intention creates synergy and support and close study with Zen teachers gives invaluable personal guidance. Private interviews with the teachers (sanzen) are usually offered once a week, and more often during sesshin.

The suggested inital commitment is a one month period of residency.

The cost for residential training is $500 per-month.

This cost is waived during our Summer Program.
