During this short retreat we will explore the four foundations of mindfulness and examine the features of our moods as they arise, are maintained and shape what follows. You will gain insight into the mind’s subtle behaviors and choices, which condition these moods. As you spot them, you can become freer of them. This wonderful tool for self-liberation liberates life energy, ease and joy. Beginners and experienced practitioners alike who suffer with chronic, difficult moods will find benefit from this work. It is a tool of practice that is compatible with therapy and medication which you may already be using. It is not intended to be a substitute. We will have meditation sessions morning and evening, maintaining noble silence, and devote afternoons to small cohort exercises and group reflection.
Dharma Holder Abby Mushin Terris works as a licensed professional counselor in an integrative medicine clinic. She is a senior student of Jan Chozen Bays, Roshi. Mushin established the Corvallis Zen Circle in 1992. She guides the practice there, leading short retreats, offering classes and dharma interview on a regular basis. She began her Zen study with Robert Aitken Roshi at the Maui Zendo in 1976; then practiced for a time with Takabayashi Genki Roshi and with Joan Reick, Roshi in Seattle. |
