Eight Realizations Sesshin

March 21 - 30

9-Day Sesshin at Great Vow Zen Monastery

Led by Zen teacher Hogen Bays

6 pm Friday – 1 pm Sunday

All Buddhas are Great Beings. The Buddha
in the Anuruddha Sutta said that there are eight things which are conducive
to deeper meditative states: being modest, content, unentangled, persistent, mindful, centered, discerning and uncomplicated. Dogen Zenji called these the Eight Aspects of a Great Human Being. He described them as: having few desires, knowing how much is enough, enjoying seclusion, making diligent effort, being mindful, practicing meditation, cultivating wisdom and not being involved in idle talk.
This sesshin will use the words of the Buddha and Dogen to guide us into deep states of meditation. Please join us in cultivating wisdom through 9 full days of zazen.
