Shrine of Vows Opening Ceremony. |
||
The Shrine of Vows is a place for anyone to place a physical symbol of their vow, to help inspire us to keep them. The Shrine of Vows will contain vows painted on stones. In the photo to the left participants in the January Life Vows sesshin are painting their vows onto stones they found on the monastery grounds. |

Here are some of examples of the stones they created. |

The stones were placed out in the hallway, and then brought outside and placed in the shrine of vows. |

The Shrine of Vows is now open. Anyone is welcome to come and place a stone when they are so moved. A vow (or vows) can be written on these stones with paint or magic marker - creativity is encouraged. They should be no larger than the person placing can lift. There will be ceremonies throughout the year when we place new stones in the shrine, but anyone can come and place a stone at any time. |
