Your Life's Tale is the Hero's Journey

November 13 - 14

Friday & Saturday: 9am - 5pm

Led by Hogen Bays & Rafe Martin

Location: St David of Wales Church

Each of us has the face of the archetypal hero. And like the hero of the world’s great stories, we are on a quest for the jewel that is ours. As young people we set our on our journey with a vow and soon encounter our unique challenges, our great challenges. And like the hero with a thousand faces, it is in working through these problems/challenges that we reach our goal. In this workshop you will learn to tell the grand, heroic story of your vow, your goal and your life.

Zen Teacher Hogen Bays:

Zen Teacher Hogen has taught that each person  is a unique offering to the world.  That each step of a person’s life’s journey needs to be honored.  Through appreciation and wholehearted involvement we learn to manifest this gift of our life so that everyone benefits.

Hogen and Rafe met while practicing with Roshi Philip Kapleau at the Zen Center of Rochester in 1970.  Hogen teaches full time at the Zen Community of Oregon and Great Vow Zen Monastery. He holds a master’s degree in psychology and a doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine. Hogen continues his Zen training with Rinzai Zen teacher Shodo Harada , Roshi.
