Laura Jomon Martin

Jomon began practicing with Zen Community of Oregon in 2004 and in 2013 completed the Sanghakai training, a 3-year program for lay Zen students designed to cultivate different aspects of Sangha service.

A social worker since 1993, she has been teaching mindfulness in health and mental health care since 2002, starting a DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) program in Columbia County, Oregon. She has been an instructor of MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) since 2009, and is on the path to teacher certification through the Center for Mindfulness at UMass Medical Center. She is now in private practice as a counselor and mindfulness instructor.

Along with her husband Patrick Bansho Green she teaches the Just Enough: Mindfulness and Money courses at Heart of Wisdom and the Inner Critic workshop at Great Vow. Jomon is interested in the healthy development of Sangha communities thus is a founding member of the Sangha Harmony Committee, and is the contact person for 1,000 Hands of Kanzeon sangha support group.

She is a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and has a golden retriever named Louis.
