Linda Cho-on Frischmeyer

Linda Chōon Frischmeyer first came to Zen practice in 2004 and soon became a member of Zen Community of Oregon. She attends Heart of Wisdom Zen Temple most regularly on Thursdays and Sundays. Chōon took Jukai in 2014. She and Sojin recently married at the temple. Linda is currently Thursday evening Shusso (head of zendo) and has served in most other evening service positions.

Linda Frischmeyer, JD, is now retired. She leads the Work as Spiritual Practice and the Re-Connecting with Inner Wisdom: A Half Day Uniquely For Working And Professional Women workshops, bringing 34 years of litigation and employment law practice to the topic of working: 16 years in the Midwest (Iowa and Illinois) and the balance in the Northwest (Washington and Oregon). Linda moved away from litigation into proactive advising: helping people navigate current circumstances (problem solving, strategic advice, and conflict resolution). She frequently gave presentations to employers, supervisors, managers, and non-profits about employment, board-staff and volunteer-staff relationships, and values clarity and finding ways to support better decision making. Linda has taken Boss Whispering™ training, cultivated awareness and skillfulness through Portland M.E.T.A.’s Personal Growth Training, and since retiring attended Byron Katie’s nine day School for the Work.

Linda enjoys the blossoming of opportunities she experiences since retiring, which include service to support meditation practice with the Zen Community of Oregon, offering work-related workshops, providing meditation instruction, and other discussion/contemplative opportunities.

Chōon enjoys being in the outdoors–whether in the mountains, at the ocean, or in the backyard–and walking, cycling, and camping. She and Sojin invite birds into their yard with the birdbath, trees, and many feeders. Taking photographs and dabbling with watercolor paints are growing enjoyments.
