An Insight Meditation Retreat with Arinna Weisman
Insight Meditation is a simple technique that has been practiced in Asia for over 2,500 years. Retreatants are invited to spend the retreat in silent meditation practice with alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation. There will also be movement and eating meditation along with Dharma talks, group sharing, and individual interviews. This retreat is open to beginners and experienced students.
The cost of $350 covers food and lodging. The reduced rate is available for those in need. In the Buddhist tradition, the teacher offers the teachings freely. Participants are invited to make a donation, in the ancient tradition of supporting retreats and teachers through a practice of dana (our generosity). Dana for the teacher and the monastery will be accepted at the retreat.
Arinna has studied Insight Meditation since 1979. She teaches in the lineage of the great Burmese teacher U Bah Khin. Arinna was empowered to teach by Ruth Denison and has been teaching since 1988. She is a founding teacher of Insight Meditation Center of the Pioneer Valley/Dhamma Dena in Easthampton, MA. She is co-author of A Beginner's Guide to Insight Meditation. Arinna has taught in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia, and has recently spent two years living in Thai Forest monasteries. Her Dharma practice has been infused with political, anti-racist and multi-cultural perspectives, and outreach to the GLBT community. Her passion is building multi-cultural sanghas.
