The Soul is here for its own joy. - Rumi

The great teachings and teachers of Awakening point to joy as a quality of heart that is most basic to us. What keeps us from experiencing this joy? During this retreat we will explore the practices of self-compassion and forgiveness to ease, soften and open the heart - giving our selves permission to feel and know the simple joy of being present.

We will also explore the teachings of Appreciative Joy, sharing in the joy of others.

Practicing joy with others is a self-less offering that gladdens the heart and nurtures relationships. Yet, we are accustomed in our culture to practice jealousy, envy and competition in our friendships, family and work environments. This is an opportunity to learn new ways of relating to ourselves and others - ways that come from an appreciation of our shared humanity and deep care for each other.

Living in a joyful world begins with cultivating a joyful heart. This is something that each of us has access to!

This is a silent meditation retreat, with emphasis on the seated meditation posture. There will be periods of silent and guided meditation, mindful movment and yoga, mindful eating, mindful work practice and personal practice time. Previous meditation experience is recommended for all attendees. Opportunities to meet with one of the retreat leaders will be available on Saturday.

A $50 deposit holds your space - balance is due on arrival.
