Gratitude Sesshin: A Weeklong Meditation Retreat

Monday, November 11, 2019 - 5:00 pm to Sunday, November 17, 2019 - 1:00 pm

The effects of a single generous act are incalculable. During this meditation retreat we contemplate our lives with gratitude and investigate the source of generosity. We will also look at ourselves in relationship to generosity as the giver, receiver, and gift.

In alignment with this theme we do not charge for this retreat. All of the food used to prepare meals during this retreat comes from donations from the community and those in attendance. This includes staples such as salt, flour, sugar, soy sauce, beans, rice, nuts, grains, fruits and vegetables; as well as tea, coffee, sweets and snacks.

Please bring food items with you, if you are attending. If you would like to support this retreat with a food donation, donations can be made to the temple or monastery the weeks leading up to the retreat.

A weekend option is available for this sesshin, that begins on Friday at 9AM through Sunday at 2PM. If you are interested in attending for the weekend only, please contact the registrar@zendust.org.

Sesshin is a rigorous and, at times, challenging meditation retreat that is not recommended for beginners. We require that you attend one of our silent weekend retreats or a five-seven day silent retreat at another Zen Center before registering for our longer zen retreats.

Please read about attending an event at Great Vow.
