NVC & Mindfulness with LaShelle

Wednesday, May 31, 2017 - 5:00 pm to Sunday, June 04, 2017 - 1:00 pm

Is this for you?

You know you value mindfulness and meditation.  You may be a beginner and looking for a way into these practices or you may have a trusted practice.  You want to manifest  compassion, wisdom, skills, and responsibility in your everyday relationships. You would like to show up in your relationships with greater authenticity and the courage to say what’s true for you when it might trigger a conflict.  You want to set boundaries without having to shout or run away. You are ready to take a look at the impact of your behavior on others.  You want to disentangle the difference between taking responsibility for the impact you have on others from owning what’s not yours to own.

As you seek to help others, you’d like to be more conscious about how you are helping and whether it is really a contribution or not.  You’d like interrupt habitual ways of interacting and try something new.

You would like to face these challenges and build skills in a supportive safe environment where others are equally committed to growth and learning.

What’s it all about?

Compassionate Communication (NVC) as I teach is about a subtle and mindful relationship to your experience and how that experience is communicated in relationships in a way that is beneficial to all.  NVC is not just a structure to assist in communication, it also provides a useful way to reflect on your experience.  It helps you catch and become free of habitual ways of thinking and relating.  It provides a practical way to frame and move through any given interaction.  You can learn more about how I teach NVC on my youtube channel here or through my weekly articles here

What to Expect

In this five day retreat, you will have the opportunity to learn and refine skills, examine your beliefs and how they serve you, cultivate mindfulness, and enjoy supportive community and a quiet setting in the woods.

We will begin this retreat, by reviewing and practicing the basics.  Then we will dive into specific themes like reactivity, boundaries, self-empathy, how to negotiate, offering empathy, honest expression, making requests, and more.

For meditation periods you can either sit with the main group in the meditation hall or join me for instruction and guided meditation.

Practice and learning will be a combination of working on your own, in pairs, or in small groups.  Exercises are specifically structured to support safety and learning.  We will also do demonstrations and large group debriefs.
