Shuso Hosen : A Ceremony Celebrating the End of the Training Year

Sunday, January 12, 2020 - 10:00 am

Join us for this Sunday at 10:00 am, for a dynamic ceremony that marks the end  Onshin's service in the Training Position of Shuso. The Shuso at the monastery serves three important roles exemplifying self-less service. First that of the practice leader demonstrating through their embodiment of the Dharma, the sincerity of whole-hearted practice for the community. Secondly the Shuso handles all of the various details organizing daily practice, ceremonies and retreats. Third, the shuso embodies deep concern for the Sangha, practicing care for each being as if his own child. This training position is challenging at times and asks that whoever is serving the role be able to turn on a dime.During this engaging ceremony Onshin will share his experience of working with a koan, deliver a formal talk and then take questions on the talk from the Sangha. Following the talk, each member of the community will have the opportunity to appreciate Onshin's wholehearted embodiment of the role of Shuso. Please come and support Onshin in gratitude for all his practice efforts this year!
