About Our Teachings
The Zen Community of Oregon is rooted in our Soto and Rinzai Zen heritage with influences from teachings and practice in various traditions of Buddhism. Our teachers have also practiced and and are informed by various contemporary modalities including Byron Katie’s The Work and Voice Dialogue. We are open and engaged in the evolution of American Buddhism while remaining committed to carrying forward the depth of the Zen Buddhist teachings in both the Silent Illumination/Shikantaza and Koan tradition.
